DOMAGALA / SZCZESNY / MARSZEWSKI
„Sanatoria Marzeñ“
On the 7th anniversary of her label Printmodé, Katharina aka Mercedes Marszewski invites fellow artists Sophia Domagala and Sarah Szczęsny to showcase their works at CRUSH, in dialogue with her own. The key to these works lies in their direct impact on viewers – radiant, and at the same time filtered through lenses of the authors‘ diverse codes. Apart from a mutual approach to textile-conceptual art, all three artists share socio-cultural realizations. Domagala, located in Berlin, organized the “Artworks in the dark” auction and founded the Slow Rise Radio Show. Meanwhile in Cologne in the early 2000s, Szczęsny initiated “Bar Ornella” - a series of mysterious events where each time, different artworks were placed at the entrance. Based in Berlin, Marszewski constantly returns to her trails in Warsaw to deepen her practice - like in 2013, with the “Porthos” project – an open studio in a former hat factory on Marszalkowska Street. From the very beginning, her label Printmodé highlights connections between forms of collaboration and applied crafts. The exhibition draws from open forms and the Polish art scene in the 2000s. It transforms CRUSH into a Surplus Gallery, or rather uses the performative aspects of the space, which it has always been, due to vivid stories of its customers.
Crush is more than a vintage store located in Mokotow area in Warsaw run by Justyna Konczewska.
